I’m reading a book at the moment and in one of the chapters it covers the question “Why We’re Here” The author mentions Frankl’s book that deals with his experiences as a Jewish prisoner in Nazi death camps during World War II. He witnessed men of strength crumble and weak men fight for survival. He said “when a man believes he has a future it gives him a reason to go on living. When he doesn’t he dies”. A moment came when in the snow being chastised by prisoners that an image of his wife came to him with a clarity more luminous than the sun as it was beginning to rise.
“that love is the ultimate and highest goal to which man can aspire” and in an instant “I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought can impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love“.
I had to share this as I think it is quite beautiful.
